Artists Wanted: The United Arts Council is seeking artists interested in participating in after-school arts education programs. Currently, these programs serve hundreds of children at schools in economically-challenged areas of Collier County. Students receive academic tutoring, sports and recreational opportunities. Arts enrichment classes, music lessons and other special cultural programs are provided by the UAC. Artists in all disciplines, who are interested in working with children, primarily grades K-5, are needed. We are especially interested in projects that integrate creative activities with core curriculum--math, science, reading, social studies. Artists should be willing to travel to school sites during non-school hours, including schools in distant parts of the county, such as Immokalee. Teaching stipends and performance fees are available. Arts programs range from school residencies of varying lengths, to one-time classroom visits. Visiting performances and other special events can be scheduled as well. For more information, contact Janice Paine, program manager for arts in education, at 239-263-8242, or e-mail her at jpaine@uaccollier.com.
